The Balloon Lady | Sawdust & Soda Cans Story (Chapter 2)

The Balloon Lady | Sawdust & Soda Cans Story (Chapter 2)

The Balloon Lady

by the makers behind Sawdust & Soda Cans

Before soda cans became jewelry…
before sawdust filled the shop…
there were balloons.

Chapter 2 of 9

Before there were soda cans shaped into jewelry, there were balloons.

Bright twisting animals.
Crowds of laughing kids.
Birthday parties, festivals, and county fairs.

Bridgit had built a life bringing joy to people with nothing more than a bag of balloons and a little creativity.

A clown.
A balloon twister.
A performer.

It was a job that required energy, movement, and long days surrounded by crowds.

And then life changed the script.

Health problems arrived without asking permission.

Suddenly the festivals and long performances weren’t possible anymore.

The stage was replaced with something far less glamorous:

A couch.

And a house full of recycling.

Most people might have looked at the growing pile of soda cans and thought about the recycling bin.

Bridgit looked at them and saw something else.

Color.
Aluminum.
Possibility.

Some people are meant to make things.

The first soda can was cut open.

Then another.

Soon those cans started turning into something no one expected:

Art jewelry.

What started as a way to stay creative during a difficult time quickly became something else entirely.

The creations multiplied.

At first it was a few pieces.
Then dozens.

Then… a small aluminum army.

Eventually the only logical solution became obvious.

If the festivals couldn’t have the clown anymore…

Maybe they’d accept the maker instead.

But the story of Sawdust & Soda Cans doesn’t belong to just one maker.

Over the next several weeks we’ll be sharing the full origin story of Sawdust & Soda Cans here on the blog.
